This is the never monster. He is the enemy of Ploop. He was born from a kneaded eraser on an artist's desk. I've not worked out all of his story yet ^^,
He is my second attempt at illustration in Adobe Illustrator. I think I'm getting the hang of it ![]()
Well, I have been working on and off on a wargame of my own design (since most of them are either WAY to long, or they look awful and were made in the 80s). Thought I'd add some RTS elements that have yet to make their way to popular gaming, as well as varying powers and factions.
Anyway, I am pretty happy with the end result of the counters. (there are of course TONS of them in the game). Now I need to design the rest of the flippin thing. The rule set is already pretty much in place, as are all of the elements. Now's the time to make it not look like a kindergarten student drew it up in MS Paint... O_O
So, I was trying to go with a grunge/Deco look, and I think it turned out pretty nicely. Definitely better looking than most Wargame counters out there...
Some other respects: This will be a free Print'n'Play game that is featured on Boardgamegeek.com. There is a pretty large community on there that are really into stuff like this. Plus, it's fun and I like playing boardgames. Why not make one?
The game is full of printable graphics, as far as counters (shown here), grass "battlegrounds", rivers, mountains, trees, Faction "HUBs", and so on. I'm also posting a pic of a prototype demo game with the old counters.
Enjoy:

Demo Game from a few weeks ago. (Sad cause I printed/cut out EVERYTHING... Now I have to do it again when I'm all done...)

Here's an idea. How about instead of having a "logo" the banner image could be an illustration of some kind that fits the letters "UI" into it. This would make user submitted banners even more fun and easily implemented. I'm thinking of what to sketch-up as a prototype/first banner.
I'm thinking something whimsical and strange kinda like the Windows 7 wallpaper.
I've been thinking.. This banner should be treated as a "mural". Perhaps we can all chip-in with the idea and rough concept sketches? I want to make some sort of composition that is just generally creative and whimsical with a lot of color... I just don't know what to start with. Any help and suggestions are welcome.
Some good ol' Youtube goodness to enjoy. Some music, some funnies, some others...
First, Music. These are some awesome things I've been thoroughly enjoying these days. The ones marked with "*" are ones at least Nate should looking into.

the truth about obama is dun dun dun la la la We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
We've know each other for so long
Your heart's been aching
But you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it

Don't tell me you're too blind to see
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
Repeat Chorus
Give you up, give you up
Give you up, give you up
Never gonna give,
Never gonna give, give you up
Never gonna give,
Never gonna give, give you up

I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand

Added some paper textures to the layout. The logo will be re-drawn to blend into the background texture.

BUG FIXES:
-Disabled CAPTCHA due to layout issues keeping the CAPTCHA image hidden.
-Fixed verification email being marked as spam by Gmail.

Layout:
The basic layout is 90% there, but very rough around the edges. I'd like to polish the thread layout more and kill a few bugs before I'm happy with the CSS. I haven't had as much time as I would like to finish it up, so the layout may be a few more weeks at the worst.
Logo:
A logo needs to be developed for the top left. The concept I have is a square hanging art peace (the "untitled image") like you would have in an art gallery. I'd like something bright and colorful to contrast the white layout. I might do something with type like the letters U and I for Untitled Image. I'm actually thinking I might look into finding a random image script so we could have user submitted versions of the logo too in different styles.
Forums:
There will be a few more forums setup by the time the site is ready for the general public. A "Show Room" forum might be appropriate for finished art that does not require critique.
Rules:
Will be established.. I haven't put any real thought into them yet. Likely the usual friendly code on conduct.

Sorta posting this before I finish that other Cloud and Zack image. Sorta inspired by Samus Aran and Studio Qube's Booster Gals image. I wanted to do a futuristic, suit totting female. I will add in colour and paint soon ![]()
Hey I just had a suggestion that we should have some sort of ongoing "homework" or assignment to keep everyone practicing in their free time. We've played around with the idea a bit in the past (on the old Untitled Image) but never really worked it into any workable project.
Shall we have a weekly/monthly sticky thread in the Critique forum with an assignment? Perhaps a dedicated forum even?
Any thoughts or ideas on getting this started would be great.

So I'm working on this image of Cloud and Zack. It was originally a whole two person image, but I decided to trim it down to about the torso. I'm using refs as you may recognize the Zack part and the flipped cloud part
. This is just to test my painting skills on the tablet which are pretty much non existent. any CC given will be greatly appreciated!

This was a quick doodle that I did in my sketch book and decided to paint it up since it was pretty funny. I call it "Generic Witch" since that's exactly what it is. Completely uninspired, stereotypical witch. Gotta love it though. I have another one similar to this, but more gypsy like that i will be coloring up soon. The face is the same, but different outfit.

C.C. welcome
Let me know how you like or dislike the development of the site here.
I wanted to get a list together of quality free image hosting services that would be helpful for members who want to post their art.
http://skitch.com/ Is my favorite Mac only service.
http://www.flickr.com/ Rocks, but is slightly limited for free accounts and requires you to link back to the "photo" page.
Other suggestions are welcome.
Done with Brushes (for iPhone). A quick sketch, the product of a slow afternoon at work yesterday.
Hope you like red paint!
An unfinished Brushes (for iPhone) painting I started a few months ago (my 13th brushes painting apparently). I was thinking cyber-punk android/assassin or something along those lines. I've stalled-out on it for now... Hopefully I'll finish it with some critique.
I was trying something a bit different than usual by making the outlines really bold.

This is what I was thinking of when I came up with the name "HobotiX." It's a mixture of the words "Hobo" and "Robotics." I drew this to have something in the background of my forums. He is rather friendly... as long as he has beer.
Drawn in Photoshop
C.C. welcome

This is something I drew well over a year ago, and was going to do an oil paining of it, but never got around to it. So I decided a couple of days ago that i could probably do it just as well, if not better in Photoshop, and well, you can see the results. I was trying to go anatomically correct with this figure... at least as close to anatomically correct as memory serves.

C.C. if you wish.
I'm keeping the forums open for existing members, but now closed for new registrations. I may end-up moving the forums to a different URL like http://untitledimage.com/forums_old/ to make room for any future projects that may use the Untitled Image URL.
I'm thinking about starting a new art focused community that would do away with most of the off-topic stuff.
Any questions/concerns let me know.
